The ultimate journey from engagement to wedding day – Cheryl and Dan have gone bespoke for all their jewellery to ensure they have truly unique and deeply meaningful jewellery. Read on to hear their journey from engagement ring to wedding rings and to find out what other jewellery they created for their special day.

The Engagement Ring
Cheryl and I went to school together, but as I was the year above, it wasn’t until we survived our teacher training year together that we got to know each other. Fast forward several years, I left teaching while Cheryl remained in the education sector. Once she and Dan got together, he was under strict instructions to get her engagement ring from me when the time was right! And so began our journey working together on their very special set of jewellery – the engagement ring was the piece that kick started their love with bespoke jewellery.

We packed so much sentiment into this ring – Dan knew she liked pear cuts, and he had a ring from his grandmother he wanted to use the diamonds from, so we had a great starting point. He wanted to spoil her rotten with a sizeable stone and ring made of platinum, so we devised this stunning halo trilogy design in a wedding ring friendly shape.
Inside the band, we set his, Cheryl’s and Cheryl’s daughter’s birthstones – sapphire to represent Dan (in his favourite colour, green), pink tourmaline for Cheryl, and diamond for Chloe.

His devotion to her daughter didn’t stop there – we designed a simple bracelet using the centre diamond from his grandmother’s ring. He presented this to Chloe the week before he proposed, asking her permission to marry her mum and to give a beautiful gift of commitment to her as well.

Dan popped the question on a weekend away in London where he took Cheryl to see her favourite show, Hamilton.
It just doesn’t get any more beautiful, and I was so happy to be Dan’s secret keeper and bring these special pieces of jewellery to life for him, which in turn put the wheels in motion for this loved up pair to begin their lives together officially as a family.

Wedding Rings – Cheryl’s Ring
As the couple began their wedding planning, they came to the studio together to design their wedding rings. More than two years before their wedding date, they wanted to tick off these vital elements of their special day nice and early.
Cheryl’s grain set wedding band has an ombré effect from dark pink to light pink to white. The colours may be her favourite but there’s more to it than that – the stones chosen are her family’s birthstones, following on from those Dan arranged to have inside her engagement ring –
Cheryl: October – tourmaline, deep pink
Dan: September – sapphire, pale pink
Cheryl’s daughter: April – diamond, white
She can twist the band about to show more or less of the vivid tourmaline pink depending on her mood.

Wedding Rings – Dan’s Ring
Dan’s ring is a story of two halves – he knew that he and Cheryl would have a long engagement and expressed some sadness to her after their wedding ring design consultation that he wouldn’t get to wear a ring for two years.
His design lent itself to being made in two parts – a mainly platinum band, with an edge of yellow gold, made from the very ring he used as the starting point for Cheryl’s engagement ring, and a bracelet for her daughter at the time of his proposal.
She contacted me to see if we could surprise him with just the platinum part for now to wear as an engagement band, and then add the yellow gold edge closer to the wedding.
So unbeknown to Dan, as we began work on Cheryl’s wedding ring, we also started work on his! We made a slim platinum band, with a gorgeously tactile reticulated finish to make it look like it had been dug up from the ground. She then presented it to him as a surprise on his birthday!

Once we got closer to the wedding, we added in the family birthstones inside the band, which matches the beautifully meaningful gesture he added inside Cheryl’s bespoke engagement ring, and the yellow gold strip of gold along the edge to convert it into his wedding ring.

It was an incredible honour to be a guest at their wedding and see them place these special rings on each other’s fingers when they exchanged their vows.

Bridal Jewellery
When Cheryl and Dan planned their wedding rings, they also designed a set of bridal jewellery, which Dan put into motion closer to the wedding as his wedding morning gift to his bride.
I love how the design is a blend of the pear shaped halo from her engagement ring and the ombré of graduating toned birthstones inspired by her wedding ring – deep pink tourmaline, pale sapphires, and white diamonds.
Who said bridal jewellery had to be white?!

Bridesmaid Pendants
But it doesn’t stop there! Cheryl wanted to give her bridesmaids a special gift on the wedding day.
Their wedding theme was green and pink, with the bridesmaids wearing one or the other colour. We designed these simple but beautiful pendants featuring pink and green stones to match the dresses and decor to tie it all together.
The perfect finishing touch to their outfits as well as a lovely gift to thank them for their help.
But the stones chosen are not random – they are in fact Cheryl and Dan’s birthstones! Pink tourmaline and green sapphire.

Family Gifts
We created longer versions of these for the Mums, each set with each family’s birthstones.

Cheryl’s daughter got the longest one of all, featuring all the birthstones from the blended family.
Isn’t it lovely how all the stones tone in with the pink and green theme?

Cheryl and Dan’s beautiful wedding day was held at the stunning Gosfield Hall in Halstead, Essex, a former Royal Palace, set in ten acres of manicured grounds and parkland and overlooking Gosfield Lake.
It truly has been the biggest honour to create all these very special pieces for Cheryl and Dan, and it makes me so happy to see them build a life together officially as a family, all while wearing these deeply meaningful jewellery in celebration of their union. It was so special to see all the pieces I designed with them being worn and enjoyed on the wedding day – something I will never forget!
